Shaanti Privacy Policy
Shaanti is an Android app made by Anshuman Singh, an individual developer. It lets you take chosen apps offline for a while. This policy says what happens to your information when you use it. The short version: Shaanti has no servers and no accounts. What it knows about you stays on your phone. The only exceptions are Google's ads and Google Play's subscription system, both explained below.
What Shaanti keeps on your phone
To work, Shaanti stores these things on your phone, and only there:
- The apps you chose to take offline, the games that start a session automatically, your plans, and your settings.
- Your session history: when each session started and ended, why it ended, and which apps were offline.
- A count of what was held back during a session: which app sent a notification, and when. Shaanti never reads or stores what a notification says.
Shaanti has no server, so none of this is sent to us. We cannot see it.
If you have Android's own backup switched on, Android may include Shaanti's settings and history in your phone's backup to your Google account. That backup is made and kept by Google under your Google account, not by us, and we cannot see it. You can turn it off in your phone's settings.
What Shaanti uses on your phone, and why
- Blocking apps' network access. Shaanti uses Android's VpnService to cut chosen apps off from the internet during a session. This happens entirely on your phone. Traffic from the apps you chose is dropped on arrival, unread. Every other app's traffic never passes through Shaanti at all. Shaanti cannot see what you do online.
- Notification access. Used to hide notifications from the apps you chose while a session runs, and to count them for your summary. Shaanti checks which app a notification came from. It does not read or keep the content.
- Usage access. Used only for game auto-start, to notice when a game you picked is on screen. Nothing about your app use is stored or sent anywhere.
- The list of installed apps. Used only to show you the apps you can choose from.
Phone calls and contacts (only if you turn on call blocking)
Call blocking is off until you turn it on. When it is on, Shaanti becomes your phone's call-screening app and rejects incoming calls during a session.
Android only lets a call-screening app handle calls from your contacts if it has Contacts permission, so Shaanti asks for it. With that permission, Shaanti does one thing: if you turn on "Show a notification for blocked calls", it looks up the caller's name on your phone so the notification can say who called. The number and the name are used only for that moment, on your phone. Shaanti does not copy your contacts, store caller numbers or names, or send them anywhere. The session log records only that a call was blocked, and when.
If call blocking is not turned on, Shaanti does not touch your calls or your contacts.
What Shaanti never collects
- No account, name, email address or phone number.
- No contacts, call history or messages.
- No browsing history or internet traffic.
- No location.
- No analytics or tracking of our own.
Google services inside Shaanti
Two parts of Shaanti come from Google and connect to Google's servers. Google handles that data under its own policies, not ours.
Ads (Google AdMob)
If you are not a subscriber and your free trial has ended, Shaanti may show one short ad before a session starts, at most once every 30 minutes. The ad is provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, and to prevent fraud, Google's ads software collects information from your phone, such as your advertising ID, your IP address (from which a rough location can be worked out), and how you interact with the ad. Subscribers and people in their free trial see no ads.
You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's settings (Settings › Privacy › Ads, or Settings › Google › Ads, depending on your phone).
Subscription (Google Play Billing)
Shaanti offers a free trial, then a monthly subscription, sold through Google Play. Google Play handles the payment and your payment details. Shaanti only asks Google Play whether you have an active subscription or trial. We never see your card, UPI or bank details.
Children
Shaanti is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Deleting your data
Everything Shaanti stores is on your phone, so you are in control of it:
- Clear it: Settings › Apps › Shaanti › Storage › Clear storage. This erases your plans, history and settings.
- Remove it all: uninstall Shaanti.
There is no copy on any server of ours to delete. To cancel the subscription, use Google Play › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions. For data held by Google (ads, Play purchases, Android backups), use your Google account settings.
Changes to this policy
If Shaanti starts handling data differently, for example if a future version adds a server, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date above will change.
